Game of life #3

okay here we go. I have a friend, he and his baby's mother ( not married) were not getting along. (understatement). Don't know all the details from both parties. He tells me that his baby's mother picked  up and moved to another state with his daughter and was remarried. He states that the mother allowed the step father to legally adopt his daughter without his knowledge. He tells me that it was on the grounds of abandonment. He doesn't understand how it could be considered abandonment because his address has not changed in 15 years. They lived together in his parents house which he still resides.  He wants to be part of his daughters life but legally has no right to his daughter. He cant really afford a lawyer. He expressed all this to me with anger and tears that were being held back. Your comments will help.
